Gamers?

(?!) every tool is a weapon
Hey, ya'll.

So those of you who are on my regular friendslist know that I work at a homeless shelter with street-dependent and homeless teenagers. I have a handful of kids there who are gamers. Unfortunately, when they had to move out of their respective homes, they lost all their gaming stuff.

I know that there are some people on my friendstlist who used to be D&D gamers (or still are) and I'm wondering - if you have your old gear that you're not using, would you mind sending it to me for these kids?

They're trying, you know? They're trying to stay out of gangs and away from the drugs and in general to maintain relatively normal lives. I'd buy the stuff for them, but that's not appropriate for me to do.

So, if you have any of the following, used and in any condition? I'd love it. More importantly, they would.

Need:
Any extra character sheets you can spare (or direct me to a decent downloadable one?)
Player’s Handbook
Dungeon Master’s Guide
Monster Manuel I
Player set of dice (1 D4, 4 D6, percentiles, 1 D20)

Would Like:
Complete Warrior Handbook
Player’s Handbook II
Dungeons and Dragons Miniatures
Feind Folio
Monsters Manuel 2-4
Complete Arcane
Complete Divine
Complete Scoundrel
Complete Adventurer

Phredd is a big gamer, but not D&D. I'll ask around. Mind if I (or rather Phredd, as I don't hang out there) posts a link to this on Nerd NYC?

No, it's totally cool! Thank you.

I am a nerd, but apparently not the right kind of nerd, since I totally had to have them write out a list and then I was all puzzling over the handwriting, all "The Complete Arcane? What does that even MEAN?"

I assume it's the right thing, though.

Thanks for the offer, darlin'.

Are we talking miniatures like the metal ones you have to paint yourself, or like the prepainted plastic ones?

Let me know which items you have a hard time getting, and I'll see what I can do.

HAH!

I have absolutely no idea. Either?

I've never played D&D. They do have paint available at the shelter, but nothing special, so if it can't be regular acrylic ... the prepainted ones? Maybe?

i can certainly spare some dice :)

my roomate has a bunch of the core books version 3.0 (players handbooks, dm guide, monster manual etc - but one version older than what is current right now) but he couldn't get them to seattle until almost new years and then it would take some time to get to you. is there a time limit on this? he *might* be able to get his parents to find them and ship them to you earlier if that is important.

also character sheets can be found http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/charactersheets here

also, as this all shakes down let me know what stuff you are still needing, i'll pass the hat next time we game (12/31) and see if i can drum up the cash to get some new stuff.

Those are good character sheets? Thanks! I'll print some out and make copies tomorrow. It's just that I don't D&D, so I don't know!

Your roommates are awesome. I'd love all of it.

And if you pass the hat, I'll let you know what we don't get.

Got this from mskoi. *points up*

Do you care if the stuff is one release out of date? D&D is up to 3.5 now, but I quit playing seriously before then, so all my stuff is 3.0.

Also, you are going to end up with way, way more stuff than you need. One, gamers never throw anything away, and two, love getting other people addicted to gaming.

Is a 3.0 Player's Handbook and Monster Manual ok? (I bought them a few weeks before they switched to 3.5, the bastards.) As for character sheets, www.rpgsheets.com has a gazillion downloadable ones, some very good and thorough... even to the point of having the basics of the individual spells on them. I can also ship along a set of dice I never use.

I'm the webmaster for Green Dragon Candles 'n' More-- we're kind of a incense/candle/potpourri-slash-gaming store. We also host tabletop RPG games and offer gaming merchandise.

We have some D&D 2nd ed items, PDF versions of D&D 3rd edition source materials, and new packs of dice.

Please drop an email to shawnstruck@gmail.com or michelle@greendragoncandles.com to let us know where/how we can send this to you.

I'm here via kobold, I sold my AD&D/D&D stuff years ago, but I have some games that my group won't play.

If you're kids are willing to branch out into other games beyond D&D, I'd be happy to box and ship them off instead of selling them to my local comic book store.

I'd also be willing to pick up some copies of the Amber RPG - it's diceless, all they'd need are pencils and paper.

Sadly, I don't have any extra gaming stuff (though it looks like you're getting a good response).

But would you be interested in a copy of a fantasy quest novel from the goblin's point of view? I'm hardly objective, but I'm told it's a fun read, and a lot of kids have gotten a kick out of it. There are some gaming in-jokes they should appreciate, too.

It's me again!

I ran a contest a month or so back, asking for suggestions as to where I should donate a copy of the complete goblin trilogy.

Your shelter was suggested, and was one of the winners.

So I'll be sending three more books your way. I assume I should use the same address as last time? And please let me know if you want them autographed or not.
